Socorro Outage

Update 5/15 (7:45 p.m. CT)

We have been to each home/business impacted by the outage at least once. If your service did not get restored, please call our dispatch center at 800-959-5325 (only for emergencies or due to this outage). We still have technicians working in the neighborhood and will do our best to get to you tonight.

Update 5/15 (11:30 a.m. CT)

Our technicians will be going door-to-door today to continue restoring natural gas service to impacted customers. 

Our relight process does require our technicians to enter your home for safety checks. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are following strict safety protocols before entering your home or business. Visit TexasGasService.com/coronavirus for more information on these protocols. 

Additional Relight Information: 

  • Texas Gas Service technicians must enter residences/businesses to perform safety checks on visible and accessible natural gas appliances. If an appliance is not up to code, we will not be able to light that particular appliance.  
  • An adult, 18 or older, must be home for our service technician to enter the residence.
  • Please secure pets for the safety of our technicians.
  • Please make sure any gates are unlocked so our techs can access our meter.
  • All of our technicians have company photo identification and logoed clothing. They will also be wearing our logoed yellow safety vest. 

Update 5/14 (1:50 p.m. CT)

Our crews have made great progress and we will start restoring natural gas service this afternoon. Our technicians will be going door-to-door and will continue working throughout the impacted area. You do not need to call us to have your service restored at this time.

We expect that some customers will not have service restored until tomorrow, but please know that we are doing our best to get to everyone as quickly as we can.

Update 5/14 (8:40 a.m. CT): 

Our crews worked late into the night to mitigate an outage within a portion of our system along Bauman Rd to Friona Dr (see map above). We will post updates later today as to when we can start restoring natural gas service.  

We expect this outage to into the weekend as we work to restore service to all impacted customers. You do not need to call us to have your service restored at this time. Our relight process will include our technicians going door-to-door.

We want to reassure our customers that their safety and our commitment to safely delivering natural gas at their homes and businesses remains a top priority as does the health of our employees. To assist us with the continued health and safety of our customers and employees and in preparation for turning gas back on, we need to ask you the following questions. 

  • Have you or anyone in the home experienced flu-like symptoms or signs of COVID-19, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, in the last 7 days? 
  • Have you or anyone in the home been exposed to anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days? 
  • Have you or anyone in the home tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days?

Update 5/13 (9:30 p.m. CT)

We are experiencing an outage in the area along Bauman Rd north to Friona Dr, inside of North Loop Dr and Middle Drain Rd (see map above). Our crews are working to mitigate the issue and our technicians are going to each home/business to turn off the meter as part of our restoration process. Please do not attempt to turn it back on yourself. Our technicians wear company logoed clothing and yellow safety vests and carry photo identification.

This outage is likely to extend into the weekend. We will provide updates in the mid-morning. We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly and safely as possible to mitigate the issue and get natural gas service restored.
