ONE Gas recently updated its emissions reduction goal further advancing its commitment to deliver reliable, sustainable energy. By 2035, the company expects to achieve a 55% reduction in emissions due to leaks from its distribution pipelines, measured from a 2005 baseline. This target also accounts for projected system growth.

“We believe natural gas will continue to play a pivotal role in a cleaner energy future, and reducing and offsetting our methane emissions is part of our short-term and long-term business strategies,” said Erin Dailey, ONE Gas director of Sustainability.

“We will continue to maintain safe operations, support growth in our communities and demonstrate responsible environmental stewardship on our mission to deliver natural gas for a better tomorrow,” said Dailey.

New ONE Gas ESG Microsite Launched

In addition to the new emissions reduction goal, ONE Gas launched a new ESG microsite that highlights the company’s ESG priorities, targets and accomplishments.

“Our ESG microsite is a transparent look at our path to a better tomorrow,” said Dailey. “Each section clearly demonstrates our focus on safe operations and how we care for all our stakeholders: our employees, customers, shareholders and communities.”

5 Ways ONE Gas is Protecting the Planet for a Cleaner Energy Future

Pipeline Replacement
We reduce emissions by tightening and modernizing our system through pipeline replacement, which helps us maintain safe and reliable operations while decreasing leaks and emissions from our systems.

Investing in New Technology
We continue to invest in developing and adopting innovative technology that improves operational efficiencies and allows us to reduce our carbon footprint. Examples include advanced leak detection and damage prevention technology.

Energy Conservation Programs
We work closely with our customers to encourage end-use energy conservation through rebate programs and education campaigns. Our rebate programs help encourage customers in Texas and Oklahoma to invest in energy efficient appliances that result in reduced net energy consumption and lower utility bills. Since 2015, we have provided more than 713,000 energy efficiency rebates in Oklahoma and Texas, totaling $96 million.

Public Awareness Programs
We proactively provide key audiences with information to help them make informed and safe decisions and avoid third-party damage to our pipelines when digging. Examples include 811 Day and Call Before You Dig.

Alternative Fuels
We are looking at using our existing assets and technology to deliver renewable natural gas captured from agriculture, wastewater treatment plants and landfills. We’re also participating in research studies exploring the use of hydrogen production and blending in our systems.
