This summer, we welcomed 14 talented college students into our internship program at Texas Gas Service. Far from the cliché of coffee runs and office errands, our interns work on projects that make a meaningful impact across the company.

Interns are placed in departments across the company, including Operations, Engineering, IT, Accounting, Communications and more, each bringing fresh ideas and learning from professionals in the field. Among them were Sara from the University of Texas at Austin and Gary from Texas State University, who interned in Market Development and Engineering, respectively, at Texas Gas Service.

Our interns aren’t just observers—they are contributors. From day one, they work on projects that matter and participate in development opportunities that sharpen technical and soft skills.

“My experience at Texas Gas Service has been very insightful; I’ve developed strong analytical skills and seen how they apply in real-world scenarios during field visits,” shared Sara. “The culture at Texas Gas Service has been incredible. It’s collaborative, consistent, welcoming and supportive.”

Working at a natural gas utility allows interns to better understand the critical infrastructure that fuels homes, schools and businesses. They gain insight into how safety, reliability and sustainability play a huge part in the natural gas industry. Whether helping update system designs, working on reporting data, or supporting communications around pipeline safety, our interns see firsthand the role Texas Gas Service plays in serving its customers.

Throughout the summer, our interns tackle standout projects, share results with their teams and see the real-world impact of their work. In doing so, they gain confidence, develop career-readiness and leave the internship with valuable insights into their future career paths.
