June 21, 2018 – Safety in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) is our priority especially after the continuing heavy rain and flooding.  Texas Gas Service employees are in the process of assessing our system in our RGV service area.

If you are a customer of Texas Gas Service and your home or business has sustained flood waters, please call our emergency number at 1-800-959-5325 (LEAK) and we will respond as safely and as quickly as conditions allow. Please note: Our employees wear logoed company clothing and carry company identification.

We recommend discontinuing use of any natural gas appliance if the flood waters have reached the appliance - even if it appears to be functioning properly. If you are concerned about the condition of piping within your home, we suggest you call a qualified service agent, such as a licensed plumber, for an inspection.

If you smell natural gas inside your home or have any natural gas emergency, please leave your home and move to a safe location, if it is safe to do so. Then call 911 and the Texas Gas Service emergency line at 1-800-959-5325 (LEAK). We will respond as quickly as conditions allow.

Once you leave the area, do not go back until you are told it is safe to do so by an emergency responder or Texas Gas Service employee.

During cleanup from storms, please be aware of your surroundings and be careful around natural gas meters and pipelines. Moving natural gas appliances on your own can be dangerous.
Before you do any digging, call 811 to locate underground natural gas pipelines and other utility lines.
