If You Damage a Pipeline

What to Do If You Damage a Pipeline

Damage to the pipeline coating caused by scrapes, dents or dings can lead to a future issue or leak if not repaired.

Even if the damage seems minor, it is important to contact Texas Gas Service for an inspection. We will assess the condition of the pipeline and make any necessary repairs. Additionally, the law requires you to report the damage by contacting 811 within one hour.

If the damage results in the release of natural gas, please leave the area immediately and then call 911 and Texas Gas Service at 800-959-5325 and 811.

Do not attempt to repair the damage and do not attempt to cover with dirt or debris. Texas Gas Service will inspect and make any needed repairs.

To report suspicious activity near pipeline facilities, call 911.
